Giant Shield Mantis

Description

The giant shield mantis is adored for its impressive size, reaching around 8cm long, and large, leaf-like thoracic shield. Rhombodera species originate from various countries in south Asia such as Malaysia, south China, and Thailand. These little critters have quite the appetite and ferocity, on par with other popular large mantis species. Giant shield mantis need a warm and humid environment that reflects their home country’s conditions but are not a demanding or difficult species to keep in terms of dietary needs or handleability. This species can be a wonderful and unique addition to the collection of any experienced invertebrate keepers.
